Utilizing Microorganisms to Produce Beneficial Food Products

Microorganisms are everywhere around us, even inside our bodies. Most of them are beneficial, while others are harmful, causing unwanted infections on humans, animals and plants, as well as the spoilage of our food. The utilization of beneficial microorganisms could lead to new, upgraded, safer products, beneficial to human health and well-being.

Visit the laboratory at the University of the Aegean to get a taste of the magical world of microbiology, see alive microbial colonies on nutrient mediums, but also observe their microscopic cells with the help of a microscope.
